Most Popular Types of Accommodation for Your Holiday in Croatia?

So you have made the important (and correct!) decision to holiday in Croatia this year? Next step – accommodation. Where are the best places to stay, and what types of accommodation are on offer in Croatia?

The first piece of important news is that private accommodation in Croatia is the number one choice in the EU, according to recent research. Last year, some 41.4% of Croatian vacation bookings were in private accommodation.

It is important to notice that booking accommodation in Croatia has changed considerably in recent years with the increasing influence of the Internet. Some ten years ago, most people found a room or place to stay by simply turning up in Croatia. An army of older women with their 'Sobe' (sobe means room) signs at bus and ferry stations. While these ladies still exist, much more accommodation is pre-booked.

At PSH Croatia, we are here to offer you the very best in terms of private accommodation options. We offer a range of villas, apartments and other accommodation options to suit your vacation needs.

With its traditional stone heritage, stone villas are an increasingly popular option for family tourists with a little more to spend. There was an explosion of stone villas, many with swimming pools during the building boom of 2004, particularly in Istria. When booking such villas, it is important to check how far you are from the sea if that is important to you, as many are located inland.

Private apartment rental remains the most popular type of rental accommodation, and seemingly every house on the Adriatic coast has rooms, studios or apartments to offer in the summer months. It is the way of life there, and usually the main source of income for the family, whose children may vacate their room for the summer to make way for the paying tourist.

When staying in private accommodation in Croatia, you are required to register your stay in your apartment or villa with the police. In practice, your host will do this on your behalf, but do not be surprised if you are asked for your passport for this purpose on arrival.

When booking accommodation in Croatia, there are several things you should research, and PSH Croatia is here to help you at every stage. Firstly, location. How far is your chosen vacation home from the sea or the centre of town? How realistic is the view from the pictures you may have found online? How noisy is the neighbourhood? That dream view in the centre of town can be a nightmare on arrival if you are surrounded by the biggest party in town... Wireless Internet is usually standard (and free) with private accommodation in Croatia, but it is worth checking.

A little vacation rental research will save you problems on your holiday, and we at PSH Croatia are waiting to help you find that dream vacation home for your perfect holiday in Croatia!
