Apartments Island Brač - Bol
When you have the most famous and iconic beach on the Adriatic, you don't have to try too hard to succeed in tourism, but the town of Bol on Brac's southern shores has plenty more to offer than the amazing Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) beach which changes shape according to the tide. Seen from the air, it seems to be sandy, but is in fact made of fine pebbles, and its numerous trees offer plenty of shade from the hot midday sun.
Bol is home to the first wine cooperative in Dalmatia, dating back to 1903, and its impressive waterfront location has recently undergone a huge change in fortunes with the investment from Jako Vino and their award-winning brand. Take a tour inside and sample the wines (and admire the unique labels) which are establishing Bol as an important wine destination in Dalmatia.
Bol is an important activity centre and is one of the best places for windsurfing and kite-surfing, while its sporting credentials are heightened by the annual Bol Tennis Open.
Bol is connected daily by catamaran to both Split and Jelsa on the island of Hvar, and there are also plenty of tourist boats to Jelsa which allow you to sample a little of the charming harbour town on Hvar's northern shore. If the catamaran timing does not work, frequent buses to Supetar will bring you to the ferry to Split. It is not uncommon to see dolphins swimming under the boats on the way to Jelsa and back.
