Apartments Island Pag - Pag
Say cheese! There is no doubt that Pag produces Croatia's best cheese. Known locally as paški sir, it's a sheep's milk cheese which has a unique flavour due to the Pag sheep grazing on wild herbs, grass and other vegetation.
Be sure to try some Paški sir from Gligora Dairy who have won numerous international awards for their outstanding cheeses. While you're in the mood for eating you should try the local Baškotini, which is a hard milk bread, like toast. It has been produced on the island for over 300 years and the locals swear by it.
For those of you partial to lace, Pag lace or paška čipka as it’s locally known has been in production since the 15th century. A great place to see this magnificent work is in the Lace Museum located in the town square. Whilst there take a walk around the charming Pag square and take a look at the 15th-century church of the assumption of Mary which harmonises Romanesque, gothic and early renaissance styles.
Just outside of Pag town is Pag Cove with numerous crystal clear sandy and gravel beaches all just a hop, skip and a jump away.
If you're looking for a day trip visit the olive gardens of Lun and check out the ancient olive trees, or head to Zadar and stroll through the idyllic old town and relax by the harmonious sea organ.
