Apartments Island Šolta
Just a short 45-minute ferry ride from Split is the sublime island of Šolta. Often overlooked by its more glamorous neighbours, Hvar and Brač, Šolta is becoming increasingly popular with holidaymakers looking for a more relaxed island vacation.
Beaches on island Solta and a great destination for diving
Being an island you can take your pick from one of the many stunning bays, coves and beaches which surround Šolta. One of the best is the large beach at Nečujam which is lined by a dense pine forest and provides excellent respite from the hot summer sun.
The sea around Šolta is crystal clear and ideal for snorkelling and diving for the active holiday enthusiast.
The island has a long history which is evident with many well-preserved historical sites. Here you’ll find remains from the Illyrians, Greeks, and Romans, with notable sites including Diocletian’s fish pond, some Villa Rustica, and the Slavića Castle. In addition the settlements of Šolta are well worth exploring the best being Stormorska, Maslinica, Nečujam and Rogač.
Lovers of food will be delighted with Šolta’s gastronomy where you can sample products which have been produced on the island for centuries. Be sure to try the brilliant olive oil made from the island’s indigenous olive variety the Šoltanka, the famous wild rosemary flavoured honey known locally as Olintio, the Šolta carob gingerbread which has a 500 year tradition and the delightful Dobričić wine which is one of the parent grape varieties for Croatia’s king of red wine Plavac Mali.
