Apartments Kaštela
Kaštela means castle, and this town has a whopping seven of them. Back in the 14th and 15th centuries the nobleman and clergy from Split and Trogir built the castles to protect their crops and local peasants.
Once the castles were constructed, inhabitants in the area built their houses around the castles forming small villages. Today the original settlements, Štafilić, Novi, Stari, Lukšić, Kambelovac, Gomilica and Sućurac, all remain and form modern day Kaštela.
