Makarska has always been the center of the Makarska Riviera, the administrative, political, economic, cultural, and since the mid-twentieth century, tourism.

Today it is a city with more than 15 thousand inhabitants that encompasses picturesque villages at Biokovo Mountain, Puharići, Kotišina the least of which is the name of Makarska. Makarska is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Croatian coast, attractive for its nature and climate, rich in tourist attractions and friendly hosts.
